    Honda vfr800 2001

Post  Admin on Thu Feb 02, 2012 10:09 pm

Hi there today at the bike review we're going to do a quick review of the Honda vfr800i 2001 model.
So where to begin for those who know their bikes, all we have to say are two words, Honda and vfr and you'll know that it has one of the most reliable motors to date.
For those that don't know well your missing out. These bikes hold their price but aren't over priced. One thing you'll hear about these are that they are great for learners and those new to riding, well their right. The power delivery is smooth and torguey throughout the gears, which is great for getting out of the way in a hurry without being uncontrollable either. The only thing new riders may struggle with is the v4 engine which can be hard to get to grips with at first.
The ride is smooth and gear box is a joy, the gearing and ride is so good that you can tootle along in any gear at any rpm (virtually).
Reliability is incomparable and is easy to maintain.
Brakes are brilliant and make you feel invincible.
    Here are some stats:

    Top speed 155mph

    1/4-mile acceleration 11.3 secs

    Power 108bhp

    Torque 61ftlb

    Weight 208kg

    Seat height 800mm

    Fuel capacity 22 litres

    Average fuel consumption 38mpg

    Tank range 145 miles

    Insurance group 14

    Engine size 781cc

    Engine specification 16v V-four, 6 gears

    Frame Aluminum twin spar

    Front suspension adjustment Preload

    Rear suspension adjustment Preload, rebound

    Front brakes Twin 296mm discs

    Rear brake 256mm disc

    Front tyre size 120/70 x 17

    Rear tyre size 170/60 x 17

    History:
    1998: Original Honda VFR800i introduced.
2000: Honda VFR800i gets minor update; slight frame changes, modified clutch, refined fuel injection, more durable electrics, improved mirrors, HISS security system.

So to summarise this bike is a mile munching jack of all trades and is great for any occasion.
    The Bike Review 9/10
